Cotswold Way

Routes offered on this trail

The Cotswold Way is one of the oldest National trails in Britain, celebrating it's 50th anniversary in 2020.  The Cotswold way is a popular walk which is well marked and easy to follow.  Starting in the beautifully well preserved market town of Chipping Campden and following the western edge of the Cotswold Hills to reach the final destination at the World Heritage Roman City of Bath.  The route will take you over some breath-taking picturesque scenery and through some gorgeous chocolate box villages.  You will find plenty of interest along the way, with sights dotting the landscape, including Neolithic burial mounds, hill forts and historic battle sites, prehistoric barrows and stately homes.  This walk offers great beauty and tranquillity over a wide variety of scenery and terrain.  Only offered in one direction, the route can be walked as a whole or split into two sections.

This trail has frequent steep climbs but mostly classed as a moderate walk.

On route you will have the opportunity to visit Hailes Abbey, Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths and Museum in Bath.

The mileage shown below is from where the Cotwold Way path starts and finishes each day and is for your guidance only. A large part of this walk includes along rural areas, so you will find that sometimes the accommodations are very close to the path and other times you will need to walk a little further to reach your accommodation. You will not be asked to walk any further than one and a half miles from the path to your accommodation. Please see the Itinerary pages for more details.
